So basically just like any other EduCamp in Malaysia and the globe, the camp was held to select the talented and excellent students from all over the nation to be offered the scholarships. It was held for 3 days, starting from the very morning of April 15 (Friday) until April 17 (Sunday). Unlike the government scholarships, the quota and chances for the Malays, Chinese and Indians and also other races were the same, so the competition was very high and yeah, only the best man wins. But err somehow there was an "indirectly discriminative affair" towards the girls since the ratio of girls to boys was like 1:4 ! But yeah maybe girls are more interested in doing medic rather than engineering. Moving onnnn...

Actually YTN / YTM EduCamp 2011 was so much different than the Petronas EduCamp, in terms of activities and assesments. When we first arrived, we were given a brief idea by the Director of Yayasan Tenaga Nasional, En Azman regarding the objective of the Yayasan and the camp itself. Then after that, we were gathered in the hall to have our IceBreaking sessions that were filled with games and dances and cheers and screams and sports and yeah stuff like that. It was very lovely of the facilitators (who were all of your atuk's age) to have actually blended us a lil' bit and brought us out of the comfort zone. Soon after the session, we all felt very 'tak malu' and started to tear out our nerdy and 'takut takut' characters.
So the following sessions after the ice breaking were more to the smaller group discussions. Nothing pressuring, just a few brainstorming activities, just to see the way we think and project ourselves in meetings and groups. The facilitators were not directly assessed us, they also guided and oiled our quite rusty brains by facts and figures.
One activity that surely won't be forgotten by the participants was when they assigned us to actually design a model of a creation that would benefit and give contribution to TNB. Given about 20 minutes to design and build the model, our hearts were crushed like ice blendeds in Stracbucks when the representative from TNB literally destroyed our models (some were even trampled and kicked) while yelling about our performance and questioning our determination. We were like WHAAAAAAAAAAAA hahahah but turn out that it was all apart of the activity so like, ahaa awesomeee. They just want to see how we handle rejections and anger. -__-"

The succesful candidates were then contacted by YTN to attend an interview on April 19 (Tuesday) until April 21 (Thursday). The interview wasn't really about assessing the candidates on their knowledge and powerful minds, they just want to know whether the candidate is actually suitable to work with TNB in the future or not. Each candidate was given a random question and questions for every candidate differ from each other. The candidates for 2011 were interviewed by En Azman, the Director of YTN, Pn Mazira, the Manager of Higher Education Unit YTN, En Haji Zul from the Human Resource branch and a few other helpers.
The questions given were simple and general. The whole point is just to stay calm, stay positive and confident, be yourselves, use the eye contact and the body language. Remember to greet the interviewers and thank them before you leave the room.
Well that's all from me. Wishing you guys the best for whatever you are up to and may Allah's blessings be by our sides at all times ;)
